Descendants of
August Harmon "Gus" Minter
(1861-1929)
Gus was the last child born to Joseph Thomas "Pappy" and Sarah Ann (Carter) Minter. After the death of his first wife, Sarah Zelena (Reneau), with whom he had five children, he married Martha Rebecca Atkins. They had four children. Of all the Pine Forest Minters, Gus was probably the most colorful. He was quite the storyteller around Pine Forest. He and Tom White, at one time, operated a store in Pine Forest. He was mostly a farmer, though.

August Harmon "Gus" Minter (b. 1861 - d. 1929) and his wife Sarah Zelena (Reneau) Minter (b. 1862 - d. 1901) with four of their five daughters. Doll (Minter) McKinney (b. 1888 - d. 1975) is in Gus' lap, Jessie "Jess" (Minter) Parnell (b. 1890 - d. 1978) is in Sarah's lap, Maud (Minter) Greenwood (b. 1883 - d. 1948) is standing, and Rena (Minter) McClure (b. 1885 - d. 1981) is sitting. This picture was made about 1891, as Dessa (Minter) Pogue (b. 1892 - d. 1949), the fifth daughter, had yet to be born.

Virginia (Minter) Pickett (b.1914 - d. 1999), daughter of Augustus H. Minter and Rebecca (Atkins) Minter. This picture was taken in front of the old Gus Minter house. Virginia married Edwin L. Pickett (b.1910 - d.1985) of Garland, TX. They married on June 20, 1931 in Dallas.
